ABOUT

We acquired our first boer goats in June 2018 consisting of 21 ewes (combination of stud and herd) and one ram. It was an experiment to determine the adaptability of the goats to our specific natural environment.

Since 2018 we have acquired top breeding ewes and rams from the Doornpoort Genetics Group bloodline and continue to consistently improve the herd with extremely strict criteria. We farm with a combination of extensive and intensive farming methods to manage our risk, but also never loosing sight of the purpose of the boer goat to survive in extensive farming conditions.

Fertility and mothering instinct have become especially important in our herd and form part of our selection criteria combined with phenotype, genotype, hardiness and meat production. Only top stud rams are used in the herd for stud and commercial purposes and the criteria for selection is the same except a small variation on the phenotype for the herd ewes.

Using real time smartphone technology to manage our heard, preventative practices are employed to maintain the health of our herd and to measure performance real time. This is linked to our financial measurement to determine the sustainability and feasibility of every intervention.

We also believe that we want to be able to deliver quality animals to all prospective buyers according to their budgets and offer exceptional after sales support and share our learnings and programs with all our clients.
